About

I am a Senior Research Fellow at the Agora Translational Cancer Research Center, and at the Precision Oncology Center, Oncology Department, Lausanne University Hospital, Lausanne, Switzerland.

"leading a project to explore how chromatin of cancer and immune cells can be used as a predictive biomarker for immunotherapy response by using multiplexing imaging and digital image processing tools".

Also, I am an associate professor of biophysics at the Physics Research Institute, National Research Centre, Cairo, Egypt.

Through my research work, I gained extensive experience in quantitative biology, advanced imaging technologies, microscope image processing, single-molecule biophysics, and cell and molecular biology. All projects that I have carried out or been involved in have been highly interdisciplinary. For my Ph.D., I studied the structure and molecular orientation order of biological fibers and DNA-protein interaction at the nanoscale resolution. To this end, I developed a new super-resolution imaging technique combined with polarization sensitivity.

My postdoctoral research was at the Center of integrated biology-CNRS, Toulouse University , at Harvard University Center of Advanced Imaging, and at the Institute of Bioengineering, EPFL, Lausanne (a Marie-Curie fellow). During this time, I focused on understanding the functional organization of the genome at different spatial and temporal scales. During my postdoc training, I developed a number of single-cell microscopy techniques (using machine and deep learning algorithms) and biophysical methods to study genome structure dynamics and transcription at high resolution over the entire nucleus of living cells. In addition, using these new methods I studied the role of pioneer transcription factors (TFs) and RNA polymerase II in shaping the local and global dynamics of chromatin in living eukaryotic cells.
